SAP adds Iceberg lakehouse and Dremio query engine to Business Data Cloud
SAP added native Apache Iceberg support, a universal catalog and zero-copy sharing with Databricks, Snowflake and the big clouds to Business Data Cloud, plus Dremio's federated query engine.
SAP used TechEd Berlin to add native Apache Iceberg support and an Apache Polaris-based universal catalog to SAP Business Data Cloud, along with zero-copy data sharing with Databricks, Snowflake, Google, AWS and Microsoft. The changes aim to let customers analyze SAP and non-SAP data together without copying it out of SAP. (SAP)
SAP is also bringing in the query engine from Dremio, which it bought earlier this year, to query data across lakehouses and databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB and Postgres in place. SAP Reltio, its master data management product from the Reltio acquisition, is now generally available in Business Data Cloud. SAP did not give pricing or availability dates for the other features.
